Hi Everyone!!!

I'm taking a break from blogging about nails right now.  I am going to focus on my son, school, and losing weight instead.  Wish me luck!

Pretty Pastels for Winter

Hi Everyone!  I decided to do a post about pastels in winter time.  There are a couple of things you can do to make pastels more merry for Christmas time.  My favorite thing to do is take a pretty pastel color like a light lavender and take a good glitter like Fairy Dust by China Glaze and apply it as an accent or on all the nails.  When you layer glitter on a pastel color it is reminiscent of snow fairies or a snowy day.  I like to do this because its really simple and pretty.  This manicure could go with anything if you need to dress up.  To be honest, my favorite reason to do manicures like this is because it reminds me of sugar plum fairies and snow fairies.  Picture time!

The first four pictures are Essie Pilates Hottie with China Glaze Fairy Dust and Picture Polish Glitter Ball for an accent nail.

These next four are Essie's Bikini So Teeny with China Glaze Fairy Dust and two coats of Picture Polish Glitter Ball.

Baby Shower Nails

On Saturday I through my friend a baby shower.  She is expecting a little girl and she is super excited, I'm excited for her too especially because she already has three boys!  Anyway I wanted to do something on my nails in celebration of her future daughter.  Her party theme was colors, bright pink and green to be exact.  This is what I came up with.  The pink is Essie Mod Square and the green is Sally Hansen Insta-dri in Lickety-Split Lime.

The sun was really bright when I took the pictures so the colors are really popping.
Hope you guys are having a great weekend!!!

NOTD: Pahlish and Orly

Today and for the past couple of days I have been wearing Orly's Decoded and Pahlish in Sullen Girl.  I didn't know if I was going to like this combination but I did.  I think the blues in the glitter really complement the dark grey.  Originally I was going to use China Glaze Elephant Walk but then I remembered that I had a darker grey and went with that instead.  Sullen Girl is really gorgeous polish.  It has silver and blue holographic hexagonal glitter and some smaller silver glitter.  This polish looks crazy in the sun.  It has really good coverage and covered to my liking in one coat.  Okay now some pics :)

Rave Rave Rave!: Cult Nails Charlatan

Hi Everyone!!!

So I'm super excited because I finally got my hands on some Cult Nails polish and the two I now have are Charlatan and Deception.  Both are top coats from the Deceptive Collection and they are beautiful!  OK.  So Charlatan has changed my life.  I swear I've swatched it on twelve different polishes and it made them all look more beautiful!  I almost can't handle it, its crazy.  I seriously just sit and look at my nails...then I tell my fiance to look at them and then I stare at them some more.

Here is Charlatan over Essie Play Date which is another one of my favorites.  At certain angles it looks like it shimmers a hot pink color and then at other angles its shifts to blue.  Ammmaaaazing....

Purple Gradient Nails

Hi!!! Sorry I have been MIA for a little while.  I wanted to post every other day but life got in the way.  I have been trying different things but I haven't found anything I really like lately.  I do however know that I love the way purple look on me.  That being said, it is correct to assume that I have a lot of purple polishes.  I decided to do a purple gradient with a glass flecky polish on my ring and thumb fingers.  Here it is simple but pretty.

Have a great weekend!

Nails of the Day:Hot Pink Tips! super girly, super glittery

Hey!!! So last night after I was done with my school work I wanted to try doing a french tip manicure.  I was going to do black because its my go to color on my tips but I wanted to try something a little more fun.  I bought Illamasqua Collide a little while ago so I figured why not.

I had seen a couple of different tutorials on Youtube on how to do french tips using an old makeup brush and pure acetone.  I use those to clean up my nails anyway so I went for it and I'm very happy I did.

I used Collide for the tips, then a hot topic polish with stars in it for my thumbs and ring fingers, and lastly a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust.

Have a great weekend!!!

Nails of the Day: Halloween Glitter Gradient!

Hi!! I wanted to do a Halloween inspired nail look.  I used two coats of Zoya Arizona, one coat of OPI Y'all Come Back Ya Hear?, and used a brush to apply layers of nails inc special effects sloane square.  I love how this turned out.  I was inspired by a look I saw here  but i wanted to do it more Halloween colors.  http://www.apolishaddict.com/2012/05/nails-inc-for-instyle-bluebell-reverse.html

I hope you guys enjoy it too!

Nails of the Day: Butter London La Moss

Today I decided to try another one of the Butter London polishes I got about a week ago.  This is La Moss. Its a gorgeous dark burgundy color with a creme finish.  I absolutely looooove it!!!!! Its so pretty and dark.  I can't believe it took me so long to get a color like this but I am so glad I finally did.  The application was awesome not streaky at all.  It was opaque in two coats and you could probably get away with one thick coat.  It took a little longer to dry than Wallis but nothing crazy.  It also has a really nice shiny finish that you don't even need a top coat, I have a top coat on in the picture though.  Alright swatch time!

China Glaze Fall 2012 On Safari Collection

On Safari
LtoR: Elephant Walk, Desert Sun, Man Hunt

There are some gorgeous colors in this collection with 12 total.  There are a couple of shades that I would still like to get but these are the ones I have for now.

LtoR: Desert Sun, Man Hunt, Elephant Walk

I really love all of these colors they were all opaque in two coats.  Both Desert Sun and Man Hunt have creme finishes and Elephant Walk has shimmer in it but its nice and subtle.  I don't usually like shimmery colors because I like to go all the way or none of the way.  So I like either creme or tons of glitter.  For some reason I really like the shimmery gray/blue colors like Elephant Walk, Illamasqua Raindrops, or OPI I Have a Herring Problem.

Desert Sun is such a nice fall color.  It reminds me of the color of apple cider.  When I first saw it in the bottle it reminded me of a dark manilla envelope for something but when its swatched it reminds me more of apple cider or gingerbread.

Man Hunt is an awesome royal blue color with a creme finish.  I don't have a color like this because I prefer more aqua blues and turquoise but everyone should have a nice royal blue color for their collection and Man Hunt is definitely a good choice.

Elephant Walk like I said earlier is a gray with a subtle shimmer.  I like it because I don't have any light grays so its nice to have this one.  I think I'll end up getting a gray with a creme finish eventually but this one works for me now.

Overall, these are all nice shades I really think Desert Sun stands out and if you don't have it go get it! haha only if you want to of course.  Its so beautiful and unique so if you are thinking about it go and get it.  I could do without Elephant Walk just because I don't see myself using it that much but all of these apply wonderfully and are nice is two coats.

Now I want some apple cider...

Butter London

I finally decided to take the plunge and try Butter London.  I'm not going to lie, I am a cheap person so paying 14.00 for a nail polish is a little steep for me.  I received an email from Ulta so I decided to check their website out and they had Butter London nail polish buy 2 get 1 free.  I was all over it.  I had been wanting a couple of polishes really bad.  Wallis was the first one I really wanted to try and after scouring the web for swatches I found two more that I liked, Disco Biscuit and La Moss.  I had been on the search for a really rich vampy red for a while and a lot of the ones I had seen had too much purple for me.  Overall I am really excited to have these and would shell out the 14.00 for them in the future.

Currently I have Wallis on two coats.  I really love this polish it dried super fast and felt  really light and not super thick like other polishes.  Swatch Time!

 Wallis

Disco Biscuit
This one was a little strange.  When I was applying it, it was smooth and then it dried with a bumpy texture.  I really wish I could see more of the glitter in it but its still beautiful.  Two coats.

La Moss
I love this polish.  I think I'm going to try this one next.

Nails of the Day: Candy Corn Inspired

I love Halloween.  I wish I was still young enough to trick or treat but I guess that is one of the perks of having a child.  This year is my son's first year actually trick or treating.  He is almost two years old and we're going to take him out this year and see how it goes.  I'm pretty excited about it to be honest.  I think he'll have a blast.

Another reason I love Halloween and fall in general is because of candy corn.  When I was eight or nine years old I entered a coloring contest at school and the prize was a whole pound of candy corn...I won!  I ate the whole thing and it was amazing.  Ever since then I have had a love for the delicious little candy.  I decided I wanted to do something festive with my nails but not too over the top or too time consuming (I was doing this while my son slept so I had to allow time for drying and all that fun stuff).  Here is what I came up with.

On the pinky and index finger I have Hot Ticket Hella Yella
this is my first time using it and I was happy with it

On my ring finger and thumb I have Illamasqua Scorch which is the first white I have been happy with almost completely opaque in one coat.

On my middle I have Wet N Wild Shine in Sunny Side Up

On all the fingers I have a glitter coat China Glaze Fairy Dust

Nail Polish Haul!

So we went to a different Walgreens last weekend and I finally went back this morning.  I have like three within five miles of my place but I went to one more up north and it was the best decision ever!  I walked in and it was like heaven they had the best OPI selection around me plus they had theBalm which I really wanted to try.  So here they are! Swatches coming soon I have to get some nail wheels or something.

This color is soooo pretty! I got it because it reminded me of a darker version of Illamasqua's Raindrops.

This color reminds me of a lighter version of Essie's Sew Psyched but it has no shimmer at all.  Its super pretty though I was excited to see they had it.

This is a beautiful nude color that I've been wanting for a while.  I like it because it is more pink than the other nudes I've tried so it actually looks good with my skin.

I'm glad I got this color because I don't have anything else like it.  I can't wait to try it.

Super gorgeous! What else can I say.

This color is amazing!!! I'm so excited about it I can't even! It seriously resembles a salmon. So pretty!

I was obsessing over swatches of this color.  So happy they had it there :)

This color is also beautiful.  I love yellows like this.  Unfortunately it is extremely similar to my OPI The It Color.  Just by looking at it, it looks a little more yellow while the it color is a tad more orange than this.  We'll see how it looks on the nail.

Alright well that is it for now but I do plan on doing a couple more haul as well as a swatch-fest.  Have a good week!  Let me know if you have tried any of these and what you think about them.
